Family and baby photography in Beckenham, Bromley
One of my favourite things as a family and baby photographer is photographing the dynamic of a family when it has expanded. This time, I went to Beckenham, in the borough of Bromley (Greater London), to photograph baby Eloise and her big sister Aoife with their mum and dad. With Eloise arriving six months earlier, they thought it was the perfect opportunity to capture this milestone of their family life before the girls grow up.
I spent a sunny and typical Saturday morning at home with them: Dad chasing the girls around the kitchen island, cuddles and tickles on the sofa, flower picking, sisters hugging, rock-star posing and trampolining with Mum.... That's what being a family is all about. I loved photographing this lively family who felt at ease in front of the camera very quickly as soon as they started playing.
After their baby girl was born, instead of booking a newborn photography session, this family chose to wait 6 months so their baby was older, could sit up by herself and was more playful than when she was a tiny newborn baby. Each family is different and should decide what time is best for them to have a family photoshoot.
Children’s portraits don’t have to be posed; I love observing children in their every day moves and photograph them at the right moment! This photo of Aoife caught right by the fridge, dressed as a butterfly princess, is priceless…

The colour coordination in the outfit (and the nails!) was so spot on. Perfect for a sunny summer day :-)
Like in any baby photoshoot, I love documenting the small details in babies that will change soon after such as those gorgeous folds on Eloise’s arms and legs. Babies love looking at themselves in the mirror so this is a typical photo of this age. She will certainly find this photo very funny when she looks at her photo album years to come.
