Capturing true memories with your gorgeous baby
Your baby means the world to you, I know that. If you could, you would probably freeze time to take in some of the amazing, crazy, emotional and funny moments you’re experiencing with your baby.
Your little person will grow fast, so fast, and it will never be again like the first weeks or months when you are still getting used to your new family life. You might be tired (you most certainly are) but this baby is everything you wanted and even more. Don’t you just love smelling her head and feeling her soft hair on your cheek? Or how your heart beats faster with her first smiles and ever better… her first giggles. Would you love having lasting memories of these moments of your family together that you can keep forever?
As a professional baby photographer, I will create natural photos of your new family in your own home, capturing your baby’s details, your loving connection and a slice of your new everyday life together.
What to expect for your newborn photoshoot
If you are a new parent, you may be overwhelmed by the idea of having a photographer in your home for your newborn baby photo session. Be reassured. To start with, we will have a chat over the phone not long before your session so you can tell me about you and your family and share your vision of the photos you’d love to have of your newborn baby; it is also a great time for you to ask me any questions you may have.
I usually spend 2 to 3 hours in your home for a newborn photoshoot so we are not rushing. This allows time for baby tears, nappy changes and any other unexpected events that come with having a baby. We will take it slowly, I will follow your baby’s lead and choose a few nice spots in your home. I use natural light to create natural photographs, with no props or awkward posing involved.
I make sure I capture a good mix of moments that reflect your life at this time, whether it’s breastfeeding or bottle-feeding, burping your baby, singing, walking around the room to soothe your little one to sleep and more. If you have other children, I believe it is important for you to have photos of siblings together too. They will cherish these photos when they are older.

It’s one thing to have photos on your computer but being able to hold these photos in your hand, in an album, or seeing them every day on your walls is a totally different story.
I totally believe that having your photos printed will make you feel warmer each time you will look at them. It is now acknowledged that family photos boost children’s self-esteem and well being because it shows them, as they’re growing up, that they are loved and their family is where they belong.
My newborn photography sessions start from £150 and my clients usually spend between £600 and £1500 in fine-art photo albums, fine-art prints, wall art and digital images.

I’ll be honest, it’s a very personal choice so there’s no right or wrong answer. It all depends on the photos you’re after i.e. if you want photos to remind you of the first days or if you prefer waiting until your baby is one or two months old (or even older).
To help you with this decision, read my blog post What is the best age to get professional baby photos? I’m sharing plenty of examples of the various baby photos you can expect at different stages (from a few days old until one year old).

If you choose a newborn photoshoot, I would recommend you book your photo session at least a couple of months before your due date. Get in touch with me so we can choose a date in the diary. Don’t worry, I know babies don’t always arrive when we expect them so we will keep in touch and reschedule based on your baby’s actual birth date.
For a baby photoshoot (2 months up to 1 year-old), simply get in touch when you have an idea of when you want photos of your baby (see previous question) and we will take it from there.

To mums who just had a baby, I always say not to worry too much about what you are wearing. Of course, you want to look ‘good’ on the photos but don’t feel you have to over do it.
First, wear clothes you feel comfortable in, that’s probably the most important. If clothes feel tight, you won’t be at ease during the session and you won’t be able to relax and be yourself. If you are breastfeeding, wear tops that allow easy feeding.Colourwise, neutrals can be a good base to which you can add a touch of colour. As a general rule, try to avoid black and red (for the tops), logos and strong patterns. Apart from that, feel free to wear what you like.

Of course you can have your session outdoors, in a park, for example. As part of our pre-consultation call, we will talk about the location you wish to have your baby photoshoot in and if you prefer meeting up outside, in a place that’s dear to you, that is totally fine.

It is completely normal for babies to be unsettled sometimes, that’s why I allow plenty of time with you for your session. However, if your baby is unwell (e.g. with high temperature…), we can talk ahead of the session and we will evaluate the situation and decide if we go ahead or if we postpone.
